Behind the Shoot: Elevating Gingo & Bair Brand Photography

When the team at Gingo & Bair Law, LLC, an Ohio firm focused on education law, reached out, they were in the middle of a full website redesign, and they knew their old headshots weren't going to cut it. The new site had a sharper, more modern look, and their photos needed to match. That meant one thing: it was time for an entirely new set of team photos.

The Brief

Before we picked up a camera, we sat down with the team and asked the question we always ask: what do you like about your current photos, and what don't you like? The answer was clear. They wanted to look professional, but not stiff. Polished, but not boring. In their words, they didn't want to look like "other boring lawyers."

To get there, we talked through references that captured the energy they were after. They showed us a few great examples of headshots that feel elevated and editorial rather than corporate and forgettable. From there, the vision came together: stylized, varied, and full of personality.

The Package

Gingo & Bair booked our Brand Refresh package: a half-day branding session built for exactly this kind of team-wide reset. It includes one studio location with multiple setups and environments, individual portraits for every team member, full team and smaller group pairings, with editorial branding imagery. The whole day is anchored by detailed creative direction and pre-production planning, so nothing is figured out on the fly. The package also covers professional retouching, commercial usage rights for web and marketing, online gallery delivery, and a wardrobe and preparation guide, everything a firm needs to walk away with a genuinely usable image library.

‍ ‍

Planning the Details

With seven team members to photograph, variety was the priority from the start. Using the multiple setups included in the package, each attorney was photographed against three different backdrops, in a mix of sitting and standing poses, so no two portraits in the final set feel repetitive. We planned a full range of shot types: individual headshots, full-body shots, and group photos paired off by working relationships.

‍ ‍

Wardrobe played a big role in keeping the gallery from feeling repetitive. As part of the package's wardrobe and preparation guide, we built a curated color palette for the team: cream, ivory, camel, black, white, navy, charcoal, wine, chocolate brown, and soft light blue, tones that photograph well together without looking like a uniform. Solid colors, tailored fits, and structured fabrics were encouraged over patterns, sleeveless pieces, shiny materials, and black heels or dress shoes rounded out the footwear guidance. Everyone submitted their outfit choices to Megan ahead of time to keep the group coordinated, and clothes arrived wrinkle-free in garment bags.

‍ ‍

Shoot Day

If you've ever coordinated seven people through wardrobe changes, hair and makeup, individual portraits, and group shots in a single session, you know the energy in the room matters as much as the lighting setup.

‍To ease any nerves, we played music throughout to keep the mood loose rather than clinical. And in a detail that says a lot about this team's personality, they'd made a pact beforehand not to watch each other's individual shots.

‍ ‍

The Result

What came out of the day was exactly what Gingo & Bair Law set out for: a diversified, stylized set of images that feels current and approachable without losing an ounce of professionalism. After the shoot, every image went through professional retouching before being delivered through an online gallery, with commercial usage rights cleared for both web and marketing use. The mix of expressions, angles, and wardrobe changes gives them a full library to pull from: for the new website, for promotional materials, and everywhere else their brand shows up.
